Adobe is trying to get the community more dependent on their products, with bitter sweet deals, before they really start milking us. They want to keep growing and use subscription capital from other applications to fund the development of NEW tools. They have one priority, its to milk the 3D art community instead of encouraging it. They have huge overheads to cover, because they are a huge over-bloated company (21,000 employees+ !!!).

I wouldn't expect anything else from Adobe, since their business model is based on subscription, not license ownership. They are trying to tell us that we will always be treated as a new customer, every single year, no matter how long we've used the software.

What Adobe is selling here can be seen as either a (1) forced annual subscription or (2) a perpetual license with no true freedom to upgrade at a discounted rate option, so you are stuck with the features you have from your purchased version, and when you actually want to upgrade, they are effectively telling us that we need to pay full price, so there is no upgrade option. In traditional perpetual licensing models, customers are given the upper hand to determine if development is adequate and worthy of compensation. Reasonable companies will always guarantee discounted upgrade prices for their perpetual licenses and allow their customers to choose to upgrade when they are financially comfortable to do so and when the customers are satisfied with the development progress of the software.

it shoud not matter when i buy the new version to get the loyalty discountsĮveryone should realize that these are not true perpetual licenses WITH actual upgrade options. Originally posted by SATA:not nice to stop loyalty discounts at December 1st.
